What You’ll Work On
You’ll work closely with Vihaan’s team to:
Create a curriculum framework tailored to students in grades 7-10, focusing on foundational literacy and numeracy
Design lesson plans that include core academic content, self-learning prompts, and interactive exercises
Support community-based educators by developing clear facilitator guides and suggesting relevant, low-cost teaching materials
This curriculum will be implemented in Vihaan’s learning centres located in red-light area communities, where teachers from the local community conduct 3-hour weekly sessions with students.
What’s Already in Place
A teacher-mobiliser at each centre, trained to work with girls from the community
An average of 25 girls per centre, with strong attendance (80%)
A safe learning space and basic Math & English instruction are underway
Interest in exploring additional learning pathways like vocational training
How This Will Help
This curriculum is more than just an academic tool, it offers a pathway toward safety, confidence, and reintegration into school for adolescent girls who are otherwise at risk of being pulled into exploitative environments. With the right educational structure in place, Vihaan can better support these girls to imagine, and access, a future with real choices.
